In its stunning setting at the Manch Estate on the banks of the River Bandon, the Sustainable Forestry Education Centre offers a wide range of courses for people of all ages. We provide field equipment and expert guidance to allow students to use a variety of fieldwork techniques during the course and to apply classroom theories to the natural environment. Analysis of collected data is carried out in our on site classroom. General interest adult courses are also available. With all school courses based on topics in the curriculum, the Sustainable Forestry Education Centre offers the opportunity to address topics in context. Fieldwork helps students to build their communication and team work skills while discovering the practical and fun aspects of school subjects.
Adult Education courses offer adults the chance to find out more about the natural world around them during a fun day out. Using a range of field equipment, find out what animals and plants are living in the world around us.
All courses are designed by our Education Manager, Lynn Daley. Lynn is a qualified teacher with teaching experience in both the formal and informal education sectors and has also worked in ecological research and monitoring. Lynn also holds a current First Aid Certificate and has undertaken Summer Mountain Leader Training, which included training in group management in outdoor environments.
Other courses include Photography Workshops by award-winning Landscape and Nature photographer Mike Brown. With purpose built hides and the wonderful woodland surroundings, INFF at Manch is the ideal place to learn with one of Ireland's top photographers.
